About Our Midwives

This organization was founded by members of Blossom Birth and Wellness Center to create a space for those interested in, or already are, midwifery in Arizona. Thank you for visiting this website. Here is some more information about the team at Blossom.

Mary Langlois, LM, CPM, CrMSM, FCP

Mary Langlois is a licensed midwife with a profound understanding of the emotional side of pregnancy and birth. She focuses on providing holistic, comprehensive prenatal care connecting the mind, body, spirit and baby. She is an expert in normal, natural childbirth and loves helping women grow into mothers. Her mother wisdom is a treasure that she enjoys sharing.

Mary has attended births for almost 30 years serving over a thousand families. In 1990, she began attending births as a midwife assistant, then in 1995 became a childbirth educator. In 1996 she went on to practice as a DONA certified birth doula and subsequently a DONA Birth Doula Trainer. Mary founded the Arizona Doulas Organization Birth Education in 1995. As a doula trainer, Mary has trained well over a thousand women, giving them the skills to Support the Woman in Labor. In 2006 Mary became a licensed midwife in Arizona fulfilling her desire to care for women during pregnancy, birth and postpartum.

Mary has an extensive personal knowledge of birth as the mother to eleven children, nine born at home and two in birth centers.

Dr. Nichelle Whitehead, MD, IBCLC, FACOG

Nichelle Whitehead, MD is a well-respected obstetrician with the heart of a midwife. Her motivation to help women developed early in her career and led her to a private practice where normal, natural births were the norm, not the exception. Her focus on empowering women to seek holistic health care for themselves and their families, led Nichelle to join forces with Mary Langlois to create Blossom Birth and Wellness Center.

Nichelle’s extensive expertise as an OB/Gyn complements her respect for natural, normal birth and her reputation in the community as a patient, gentle, and warm care provider. She studied at Miami University and earned her M.D. at Case Western Reserve University, completing her residency in Phoenix. Nichelle shared her passion for natural birth by teaching residents at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Phoenix to be more holistic physicians. Nichelle shares in life with her husband and is the mother of two sons, both born with the caring help of midwives.
